Dechert hires alternative investment expert from SJ Berwin

Dechert has announced the hire of partner Achim Pütz, the former head of German financial markets at SJ Berwin. Pütz will join the firm’s Munich office, and is followed by associates Frank Wilbert and Martin Hüwel. Dechert’s financial services co-head Peter Astleford said: “Achim’s arrival is all part of the wider picture. Twenty years ago you could run an investment funds practice from London. Now, the ability to operate an integrated European practice has become increasingly important.” He added: “Achim’s more or less the father of the alternative investment industry in Germany and his work fits nicely with what we’re doing and will complement our work in Ireland and Luxembourg.”
