U.S. News & World Report law firm rankings released

U.S. News & World Report law firm rankings have been released. The magazine opted not to give firms a simple ranking – as it does with law schools, in favour of an approach that looks at each practice area separately and groups the firms into three tiers. Tier 1 is reserved for the highest performing firms, while Tier 3 is the bottom tier. The rankings are the result of a huge enterprise: they include 81 practice areas and 8,782 firms and solo practitioners. The survey took information from 9,000 clients and almost as many lawyers, along with about 3.1 million individual lawyer evaluations in the Best Lawyers database.
