Eversheds advises The Beatles in sale of catalogue to Apple
The AM Law has reported of the Beatles selling its entire music collection to Apple Inc. This sellout will enable Apple to sell the Beatles legendary collection on the popular iTunes. iTunes started off ten years ago and is the most popular website for downloading music at a fraction of the original price. Eversheds (UK) represented Apple Corps i.e. the Beatles, with a team led by Partner Nick Valner along with Senior Associate Neil Mohring. Valner has previously advised the Beatles, when they contracted a licensing agreement with MTV Networks to create a video game based on the Beatles called the Beatles: Rock Band video game. EMI (the Beatles band’s record label company) used an in-house team led by John Ray in Los Angeles and General Counsel Kyla Mullins in London. Apple Inc. was advised by in-house Associate General Counsel Kevin Saul.
