Herbert Smith to open Belfast base to handle disputes documents
Herbert Smith is set to launch a new office in Belfast to handle large volumes of documents from major litigations, arbitrations and regulatory investigations. The office is due to open its doors in April 2011, and will be led by Libby Jackson, who will leave a practice management role in London to relocate to Ireland. Overall management responsibility will rest with the firm's global disputes head Sonya Leydecker and London-based partner Jenny Stainsby. Leydecker commented that the new base “will enable us to offer clients a combination of quality, efficiency and value for money. Clients are increasingly looking to their lawyers for more imaginative approaches to the management of disputes.” She added: "In particular, complex projects such as disclosure are important but can increasingly be systematised and managed in new ways. The Belfast office will make a new range of resourcing options available to clients."
