Debevoise hires former NY state insurance superintendent
Debevoise & Plimpton has hired former New York State insurance superintendent Eric R. Dinallo, who joins the firm’s partnership fresh from a run for New York attorney general. Dinallo will work in the New York office in the financial institutions group. His experience is considerable, having held the role of insurance superintendent from 2007 to 2009, during which time he worked with the US Department of the Treasury, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and others in restructuring American International Group Inc, a major client of Debevoise. During Eliot Spitzer's days as attorney general, Mr. Dinallo served as chief of the investment protection bureau, and last month he was appointed to Attorney General-elect Eric Schneiderman's transition committee. The move will represent a significant pay rise for Mr Dinallo, who earned $127,000 annually as superintendent. In 2009 Debevoise & Plimpton recorded profits per partner of $1.87 million.
