Wall Street firm Cadwalader lures 9-strong energy team from McDermott

January 22, 2011 Up to nine energy and commodities partners from Chicago-based firm McDermott, Will & Emery have been lured to Wall Street firm Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft. While the names have not been released, rumours suggest that the defecting partners will include co-head of McDermott's energy and commodities group Paul J Pantano Jr, and co-head of the firm's mergers and acquisitions practice Karen A Dewis.

The move will establish a new industry-specific practice at Cadwalader, and is being hailed as a sign of increasing confidence for the firm that laid off hundreds of lawyers in 2008 and 2009.
