Top UK firm Clifford Chance merges with two Australian firms

Clifford Chance, the UK’s highest-grossing law firm last year, has announced a merger with two Australian firms. Clifford Chance will join with Sydney firm Chang, Pistilli & Simmons and Perth firm Cochrane Lishman Carson Luscombe as part of its plan to boost staffing in Tokyo, Beijing and Singapore and double revenue in Asia over the next four years. Peter Charlton, head of Clifford Chance’s Asian operations, said: “The importance of Asia to the global economy and to our major clients has already resulted in substantial growth,” adding: “Any credible growth strategy for the Asian legal market can no longer ignore the importance of the Australian market.”
