Serious Fraud Office investigation leads to arrest of two partners at M&A Solicitors

Two partners at UK law firm M&A Solicitors, have been arrested after an investigation by the Serious Fraud Office into the sale of coal mines in South Wales. One of the arrested lawyers is Alan Whiteley, who founded M&A Solicitors. On Monday Whiteley resigned from the partnership, and the firm issued a statement to say that "Evans' contract with the firm was ended". They added that the firm had "acted diligently by referring matters to the authorities, and the Serious Fraud Office's investigation follows on from our referral. We are co-operating with the Serious Fraud Office's investigation and due to the on-going nature of that investigation we are unable to provide further information at this time."
