New offshore firm launches in Uruguay

The former director of investment funds and private wealth at Uruguayan firm Ferrere has launched a boutique offshore firm. Martin Litwak launched Litwak & Partners earlier this month to focus on providing British Virgin Islands and Cayman Island advice from Montevideo. The firm will also offer advice on corporate finance and capital markets. Litwak said: “The idea was to create a boutique law firm with a limited number of lawyers, working with a limited number of clients.” Litwak is starting out small – currently supported by just one paralegal – but he said he aims to grow around 10 lawyers over the next few years, and is negotiating an association with a British Virgin Islands practice.
