US firm Fish & Richardson appoints new litigation head

US firm Fish & Richardson has appointed IP litigator Ann Cathcart Chaplin as head of the firm's litigation practice. Chaplin takes over the role from outgoing litigation head Katherine Kelly Lutton, who will return to full time fee earning. Chaplin has revealed plans to expland the firm's commercial litigation practice, building on recent work on trade secret issues, employment law, class actions about product defects and other complex litigation involving technology. She said: "We do more patent litigation than any firm in the country, but as clients have had additional needs, we've been expanding our litigation group."
