Sacramento firm Stevens, O'Connell & Jacobs joins up with DLA Piper

DLA Piper is set to absorb Stevens, O'Connell & Jacobs, a boutique law firm based in Sacramento. The ten lawyer firm, which two former US attorneys and a former first assistant US attorney as name partners, will close with all lawyers moving to DLA Piper’s Sacramento base. Founding partner Charles Stevens said the deal is not a business merger or a buyout, explaining that all the lawyers from the boutique firm are simply transferring to DLA Piper. He said: "In addition to keeping our entire team of attorneys together, the attraction for us is that, with DLA's international platform and substantial corporate-client base, we can do more of the big cases on which we thrive." "At the same time," he said, "we get to stay in Sacramento and maintain a small office's collegiality."
