Becker & Poliakoff to launch in Washington DC

Florida based firm Becker & Poliakoff continues to grow, opening an office in Washington DC hot on the heels the launch of a second New Jersey office. The firm has hired two nonlawyer lobbyists to lead the Washington office: Omar Franco, who will serve as managing director, and Clarence L. Williams. Franco joins the firm from Franco Government Lobbying, before which he served as chief of staff to Republican U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart. Williams joins the firm after eight years’ experience as chief of staff to former Democratic U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek. Alan Becker, managing partner of Becker & Poliakoff, said: “We've never done Washington, D.C., and people have always said, 'Why don't you do Washington?' It never made sense before, but so much of the action has moved to Washington and just about everything now involves federal funding and federal regulation. We have existing clients who were happy to have us in that market. The stars aligned. The timing seemed right."
