O'Melveny & Myers appoints Bradley Butwin as Chairman
O'Melveny & Myers has appointed New York-based litigation head Bradley Butwin as its new chair. Butwin was selected for the top job over two other candidates, Washington DC partner Thomas McCoy and Los Angeles partner Randall Oppenheimer. He takes over the position from incumbent Arthur Culvahouse, who has been in the role since 2000. The role of chair presents immediate and critical challenges to its new bearer. O’Melveny has lost more than two dozen partners since the start of the year, indicating that the merger with O'Sullivan has not been friction free. Butwin now has his work cut out for him to stabilize the partnership rebuild the firm's transactional practice.
