London Underground brings £142m negligence claim against Freshfields
The London Underground Ltd (‘LUL’) has brought a £142 million suit against Freshfields Bruckhaus Derinder regarding advice that the firm provided on a deal in 2002. LUL claims that Freshfields was negligent in drafting contracts that exposed LUL to liability for losses if any of the companies created to facilitate the deal went bust. A spokesperson from Freshfields said: "We reject the claim and will be defending it vigorously". Mayer Brown has been instructed to defend Freshfields, assisted by top talent QC Laurence Rabinowitz. Meanwhile LUL has called on advice from Ince & Co and George Leggatt QC.
