First-year associate sues law firm for firing him after he made a pratt of himself

ThomsonReuters reports that a first year associate has said that New York firm Kasowitz Benson Torres & Friedman was "extraordinarily vindictive" for firing him after he sent an email boasting of his "superior legal mind". In May of this year Gregory Berry emailed the firm’s partners seeking more responsibility. The email said: "It has become clear that I have as much experience and ability as an associate many years my senior, as much skill writing and a superior legal mind to most I have met.” The email did not go down well, and he was fired a few days later. Berry is now suing Kasowitz Benson and two of the firm's partners, Aaron Marks and Kim Conroy, for behaving unethically, inflicting emotional distress and attempting to thwart his future career prospects. He claims $77 million in damages.
