Norton Rose concludes merger agreement with Canadian firm Macleod Dixon

Norton Rose has announced the conclusion of merger negotiations with Canadian firm Macleod Dixon, agreeing to tie up with the firm in January 2012. The alliance – which will operate in Canada under the name "Norton Rose Canada" will increase Norton Rose’s Canadian practice by 250 lawyers, as well as adding offices in Kazakhstan, Russia, Brazil, Venezuela and Colombia. According to Canadian Managing Partner, John Coleman, the firm's second Canadian merger is all about creating a "powerhouse" to take advantage of energy and mining opportunities.
