Proskauer Rose launches office in Beijing

Proskauer Rose has launched an office in Beijing's Chaoyang District, after being granted regulatory approval by the Chinese authorities. The firm set its sights on Beijing three years ago when it launched an office in Hong Kong. Corporate partner Yuval Tal said that the firm will be staffed, initially, with about five attorneys who wil relocate from the Hong Kong office. "Every transaction we do is multilingual," Tal says. "It very often involves at least two, if not three jurisdictions, and very often two or three legal systems. It's a very, very exciting kind of practice." Being on the ground in Asia has been essential to landing both local Asian clients doing work abroad and foreign clients coming to the region, Tal says.
