Fraud proceedings for former partners of Hogan Lovells, Mishcon de Reya
Former Hogan Lovells litigation partner Christopher Grierson has been charged with four counts of false accounting by the City of London police. Grierson was fired from the firm after an internal investigation found that he had fraudulaently claimed £1 million in expenses over a four year period. Meanwhile, a former Mishcon de Reya partner was found guilty of fraud in Southwark Crown Court, and looks set to spend a lengthy period in jail. In 2008 the Serious Fraud Office first accused Kevin Steele of helping a former client obtain a €22 million loan by producing fake letters showing his client had £76m available as security. Roll On Friday points out that the SRA is currently examining over 100 further cases of fraud at law firms across the UK, so there may well be plenty more revelations and scandals to come.
