US firms McKenna Long and Luce Forward announce merger

McKenna Long & Aldridge and Luce Forward Hamilton & Scripps have announced a merger, forming a combined firm under the McKenna banner, with a headcount of over 600 lawyers. Both firms have an office in San Fransisco, so these offices will integrate to join forces. “Because we’ve done so well, especially in 2010, in San Francisco in particular, we’ve had a lot of inquiries (about mergers) from national firms,” said Luce’s chairman Kurt Kicklighter. “When you get approached by national firms and you start looking at things, if there’s a better opportunity for you out there, I think every managing partner has to look at it.”
