Orrick gives associates incentives to bill on time
Here is a brief article on the merit-based compensation system at Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe. According to this report there are two features of Orrick’s compensation system that mark it out as a leader in the field. First, partners invest significant time into their merit evaluations, and secondly the firm is transparent about how many people get paid. Eighty percent of Orrick associates received a bonus. The firm has also introduced incentives for posting billings in a timely fashion, with associates getting an extra $5,000 if they release their time daily, which drops to $3,500 if they release their time ever other day. Associates were docked $5,000 if they were consistently more than ten days late in releasing time.
