Hogan Lovells plans to launch in Rio de Janiero

Hogan Lovells has announced that it will launch an office in Rio de Janeiro later this year, pending regulatory approval. The move follows a large influx of international firms into Brazil’s booming economy, with most firms settling in the financial centre Sao Paulo. Hogan Lovell’s decision to launch in Rio is said to have have been prompted by the increase in project finance and other related work ahead of the 2014 World Cup and the Olympics in 2016. The office will be led initially by Washington DC-based Claudette Christian, a former co-chair of the firm’s board, who will work alongside four to six other lawyers.
