Richard Daley boosts US firm Katten Muchin Rosenman's China launch
US firm Katten Muchin Rosenman has entered the Chinese legal services market with an office in Shanghai. The firm’s entry into China has been given a boost with the recruitment of Richard Daley, who stepped down as the mayor of Chicago last year. Feng Xue, managing partner of the Shanghai office, said: "During the past few years, we have laid the foundation, but the mayor joining us is a big boost," adding, "Mayor Daley is well-known in China." Daley visited China five times as mayor. "One thing the mayor said to President Hu was that he wanted to make Chicago the most friendly city to Chinese investment, and that resounded very well in China," Katten's Xue said. At the firm’s launch party in Shanghai, China's consul general in Chicago, Yang Guoqiang, presented Daley with a key to the city of Wuhan and announced that the former mayor was joining that city's International Advisory Council.
