Khaitan, Anderson Mori, and Amarchand lead largest ever Indian mutual fund investment

April 4, 2012 Khaitan & Co and Japanese law firm Anderson Mori & Tomotsune have led a deal for the largest ever Indian mutual fund investment, with Asian private insurance leader Nippon Life Insurance purchasing a 26 per cent stake in Indian asset management leader Reliance Capital Asset Management from its parent company Reliance Capital for Rs. 1450 crore ($290m).

Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co advised Reliance Capital and Reliance Capital Asset Management, with a team led by partners Vandana Shroff and Ravindra Bandhakavi.

Khaitan & Co advised advised Nippon Life Insurance with a team led by partners Zakir Merchant and Vaishali Sharma, and the firm worked alongside Anderson Mori & Tomotsune partner Ryo Kotoura,
