Norton Rose sets sights on US and China

Norton Rose Group is looking for mergers in the US and China, according to Chief Executive Officer Peter Martyr. Norton Rose now has a headcount of 2,900 lawyers, combining UK, Australian, Canadian, South African and affiliated partnerships. It has more than doubled in size since 2009 by merging with four firms in a verein structure, under which each firm maintains separate finances. “I see the world as two pillars, China and the States,” said Martyr in an interview. “To be a global business you need to have both of those pillars. What we already have is the hammock that swings between them now.”
