Allen & Overy cuts Hong Kong partnership by four
Allen & Overy has taken the shears to its Hong Kong partnership, asking four local partners to leave the firm. The group includes partners from both transactional and disputes teams, while one further real estate partner has left the firm to set up his own practice. The departing partners account for around 20 per cent of the Hong Kong partnership, which is currently around 25 people. A spokesperson indicated that the strategic role played by the firm's Hong Kong office has changed since the firm grew its Asia headcount by 60% over the past four years. Just last month the firm announced an imminent launch in Vietnam, and a presence in Indonesia was established last year via an exclusive association agreement with Jakarta’s Ginting & Reksodiputro.
