UK law firms post retention figures

The last of the major UK law firms to post their retention figures have now made their decisions, with both Norton Rose and Herbert Smith announcing respectable results. Norton Rose has offered positions to 18 out of 23 trainees for a retention rate of 78 per cent - the exact same figures for the January qualifiers, and Herbert Smith retained 80 per cent of its trainees, or 46 out of 56. Meanwhile, Weil Gotshal & Manges is keeping seven of its ten trainees, despite having offered all 10 of them a job, for a retention rate of 70 per cent.
