39 US lawyers make the Forbes 400
The Forbes 400, the annual ranking of the 400 wealthiest Americans by Forbes magazine, has 39 lawyers (or, at least, law graduates) on the list this year, down from 40 last year. New to the list is hedge fund magnate Paul Singer, who comes in at #392, with a net worth of $1.1 billion. Singer is a Harvard Law School graduate who practiced corporate law in New York before entering finance. And dropping off the list this year are Eric Lefkofksy, a University of Michigan Law School graduate and the Chair of Groupon. The falling share price of Groupon reduced his net worth $1.03 billion, which wasn’t quite enough to make the list this year. Also slipping of this year’s Forbes 400 was Joseph Craft, who lost his place due to a costly divorce settlement and now has a net worth of $625 million.
