100 highest grossing US firms doing well despite market woes
Despite the dispiriting reports of falling salaries, increasing student debt and scant job prospects, the 100 highest grossing law firms in the US are still doing very well, with growing revenue. At the top of American Lawyer magazine’s ranking is Baker & McKenzie , which took in $2.313 billion in gross revenue this year. There was little change between the 2011 and 2012 rankings, though DLA Piper and Skadden Arps switched spots, with DLA now in second and Skadden in third place. And partners at these leading firms are doing remarkably well for themselves, earning on average of $681,000 a piece.
