Norwegian firms Vogt & Wiig and Simonsen to merge

Vogt & Wiig and Simonsen have merged to create one of the largest firms in Norway. The merger will go live on 1 January 2012, creating a combined firm of around 180 lawyers with offices in Oslo, Bergen, Kristiansand, Stavanger, Trondheim, Tromsø and Singapore. Mona Søyland will lead the firm as Managing Partner and Frithjof Herlofsen will be the firm’s Chair. A statement released by the firms put it that ‘The combination of Simonsen’s international presence within oil and gas, strong relations to oil producing countries, the longstanding and close ties to the shipping industry of both firms and Vogt & Wiig’s presence in Singapore, forms a unique platform for further development and growth.’
