A&O in tie-up with Turkish firm
Allen & Overy has formed and exclusive association with Turkish firm Gedik & Eraksoy. The tie-up expands A&O’s existing practice in turkey to include expertise in local law. Gedik & Eraksoy has two partners and eight associates. Hakki Gedik and Gökhan Eraksoy founded the firm with a view to forming the alliance with A&O, leaving behind left joint roles as the heads of banking at leading Turkish firm [Hergüner Bilgen Özeke 4290. A&O launched its presence in Turkey in May under the leadership of partner Charles Lindsay. Lindsay explained the latest move: “The initial plan was to build an English-law finance practice. That was what we built the business case on. But if an opportunity came to form a tie-up with the right people we were always going to take it. With Hakki and Gökhan I think we have two of the best people in the market.”
