Merger negotiations between FFW and Osborne Clarke fail

Merger talks between Field Fisher Waterhouse and Osborne Clarke have failed, marking the second aborted attempt to conclude a merger by FFW this year. FFW concluded fruitless negotiations with Lawrence Graham in May of this year, and both parties came away with complaints about the other: FFW pointed to LG's poor financials, while LG noted a lack of unity amongst FFW's partners. The talks with Osborne Clarke have ended more amicably, with the Osborne concluding that the firms were 'too different to continue', but that the talks had helped 'build excellent relationships with the FFW team'. For its part FFW said that the process had been positive because of the 'strong relationships and friendships that had been formed'.
