Reed Smith acquires Hong Kong law offices

Reed Smith's acquisition Friday of Richards Butler's 110-lawyer office in Hong Kong typifies a trend of U.S. law firms cracking the growing China market, experts said. The Downtown firm's addition of the Hong Kong office will give Reed Smith well over 1,500 attorneys total and annual billings in excess of $1 billion when the deal becomes effective on Jan. 1. Reed Smith has about 225 attorneys in Pittsburgh.
