White & Case shutters Kazakhstan office
US firm White & Case has closed its office in Almaty, one of the firm’s two Kazakhstan locations. Almaty served as White & Case’s first Kazakhstan location, where the firm launched operations in 1995. The two lawyers formerly based in Almaty will move to the firm’s remaining Kazakhstan base in Astana, where the firm has operated since 2013. White & Case has also recently made changes to its operations in Turkey, where firms are required to operate via alliances with Turkish firms. The firm formalized its alliance with Cakmak Avukatlik Burosu in Ankara, and maintains its current association with Cakmak-Gokce Avukatlik Burosu in Istanbul. The Turkish business is currently managed by Earl O’Donnell, a Washington partner for White & Case.
