Freshfields’ Higgins to step down as GFI head
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer global financial investors (GFI) head David Higgins will be stepping down from his role leading one of the firm’s eight sector groups. Current private equity head Adrian Maguire is set to take over the role, in which he will work alongside Frankfurt-based co-head Markus Paul. The transition will take place in January. Higgins has led the GFI group for 6 years, and will return to client work in January. He is regarded as a private equity leader in the City, with a client roster including Cinven and Blackstone. Freshfields’ GFI group specializes in private equity, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, infrastructure funds, and alternative capital.
