Employment tribunal awards £1m to former KWM employees

An employment tribunal has awarded more than £1m to a group of 288 former King & Wood Mallesons London employees. The settlement was awarded on 20 September, and is part of an ongoing claim following the firm’s European collapse. Herrington Carmichael represented the group, while Quantum acted as administrators. According to Herrington Carmichael partner and employment head Alistair McArthur, KWM carried out redundancies without first consulting with staff members, a move that gave the employees a strong case for a settlement from the firm.
