Shearman, Akin Gump, Fulbright among US firms reducing staff
Staff growth at America’s largest law firms slowed in 2008, according to a survey by the National Law Journal. Major firms losing staff include Cadwalader (-91 lawyers) Fulbright & Jaworski, (-59 lawyers), Pillsbury Winthrop (-45 lawyers), Arnold & Porter (-40 lawyers), Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld (-53 lawyers), Shearman & Sterling (-42 lawyers), Holland & Knight (-47 lawyers). DLA Piper took the top spot with a total of 3,785 lawyers and a 4.5% growth in 2008.
