Clifford Chance is likely to be the worst affected by the current crisis among the "Magic Circle" of top British law firms - which also include Allen & Overy, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Linklaters - because of the size of its banking practice, writes The Times. Among Clifford Chance's key banking clients was collapsed investment bank Lehman Brothers. Clifford Chance is now at risk of being knocked off its pillar as the world’s biggest law firm by American rivals Skadden and Baker & McKenzie.
