Latham loses M&A star David Schwartzbaum to Greenberg
Latham & Watkins has lost its M&A partner David Schwartzbaum to Greenberg Traurig in New York. The hire is seen as a coup for Greenberg, that has recently hired former Kirkland & Ellis restructuring specialist Lyndon Norley, former Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft partners Bruce Zirinsky and John Bae and former Mayer Brown co-vice-chair Paul Maher. Schwartzbaum's recent principal representations include CV Therapeutics in its $1.4 billion acquisition by Gilead and response to an unsolicited takeover proposal and tender offer by Astellas, Axcan Pharma in its $1.3 billion acquisition by an affiliate of Texas Pacific Group, and J.P. Morgan Partners in its $2.1 billion going-private acquisition of AMC Entertainment.
