Freshfields and Ashurst lead £864m power deal
ABB’s £864 million bid for the power company Chloride Group will be guided by two firms – Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Ashurst. The Freshfields team is advising ABB on the offer with a team led by corporate partners Barry O'Brien and Piers Prichard Jones. The offer has the potential to start a bidding war with US manufacturing company Emerson Electric, whose 275p per share offer was rejected two weeks ago. The Freshfields team also includes partners Kathleen Healy, David Pollard, and Helmut Bergmann, and the team working with ABB's in-house legal team, led by general counsel Diane de Saint Victor, andassisted by M&A chief counsel Natascia Rubinic. Chloride has called upon Ashurst for legal advice on the deal, and the firm has provided a team led by corporate head Adrian Clark.
