US legal sector gains jobs, opposing national trend
For the third month in a row, the US legal sector added jobs, with the Bureau of Labor statistics reporting an increase of 2,500 jobs in September. While the growth numbers are down from this time last year (the Bureau reported 6,700 new jobs in September 2009), this month’s gains are heartening, continuing a trend that has seen 4,000 new jobs added in the past three months. The statistics in the legal sector looked a lot better than those describing the economy as a whole, with 95,000 jobs lost nationally in September.
