Herbies to pay lawyers £10 in Belfast

January 14, 2011 Industry rumour has it that Herbert Smith's new Belfast outpost will pay its lawyers as little as £10 per hour, with paralegals earning a mere £7 an hour.

The new office, set ot open in April, is intended to function as a low cost document processing outfit, handling large volumes of litigation documents

A spokesman for the firm said that "salary rates are competitive in the local market, which is consistent with the number and high quality of applications we have had for the legal roles in Belfast".
