SRA bans aptitide test for admission to Legal Practice Course
After completing the Legal Practice Course (‘LPC’), law graduates are qualified for admission as a solicitor. There is some concern, however, that some students who spend considerable time and money on the course do not have aptitudes suited to a career in the law. These concerns led Kaplan Law School to propose an aptitude test for admission to the LPC, but a new determination from the Solicitors Regulation Authority says that such aptitude tests are impermissible. This means that anyone with a degree and cash for the fees can start the LPC, regardless of their abilities and prospects in the legal profession.
