Freshfields gives UK associates a pay rise
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has announced pay rises for all associates, taking the firm to the very top of the Magic Circle in terms of compensation. Associates will move up to the next PQE band as normal, and each band is set to increase by between £1,500 and £2,000. The pay for newly qualified lawyers will go from £60k to £61.5k; pay for associates with one year post qualified experience (‘PQE’) goes from £68k to £69.5k; the 2PQE associates go from £75k to £77k; and the 3PQE associates will see their pay increase from £86k to £88k. As RollOnFriday points out, these new figures mean that a 3PQE lawyer will earn £3000 a year more than they'd get at either Linklaters or Allen & Overy, and £2000 more than at Slaughter and May.
