Debevoise & Plimpton appoints new presiding partner
New York-based firm Debevoise & Plimpton has appointed Michael Blair, chair of the corporate department, to become the firm's new presiding partner. The role will involve chairing the firm’s management committee as well as setting the affirmative agenda of the firm with respect to a wide range of external and internal issues. Blair takes over the role from current presiding partner Martin Frederic "Rick" Evans, who retire from the firm at the end of his year at the age of 65, in light of the firm’s mandatory retirement policy. Blair commented: "As a young lawyer I learned when people rely you it is quite motivating.” He added: “I am determined to do everything I can to live up to the expectations of my partners."
