The number of mergers and acquisitions lawsuits filed in 2010 increased by nearly 850% over 2008 figures, according to new reports. M&A suits, which typically claim that investors and shareholders have been unfairly compensated in mergers and buyout actions, represent quick money for law firms, says Fox Business. “You don’t have all those details to worry about,” William Dodds, a partner at Dechert, which regularly defends companies in this type of case. “You check Dow Jones or Reuters or Bloomberg, you see something happening, you find a client and you’re off to the races.”
