Compulsory diversity reporting for UK law firms

Law firms in the UK will be required to publish diversity and social mobility statistics online under a plan recently approved by the Legal Services Board. The scheme, which is designed to "widen the pool of talented lawyers" and to highlight the "moral case for increasing diversity" will see firms reporting on a range of diversity indicators including age, gender, disability, ethnic group and socio-economic background. According to the Legal Services Board just 25% of law firm partners are female and only 3.5% black or minority ethnic.
