A good year for top equity partners: the million pound club is growing

The top end of the pay scale in the legal profession is making a recovery, according to a survey conducted by The Lawyer to assess how many equity partners are seeing pay of more than £1 million in earnings per year. According to their report, the number of firms with partners earning more than £1m now stands at 18 - up from eight in 2008-09. The million pound club includes a range of firm models and sizes, from large multijurisdictional practices to smaller domestically focussed boutiques. The firms offering the most money to their higest paid partners are as follows: Slaughter and May paid a top partners £2.1 million DLA Piper and Gordons paid £1.7 million Allen & Overy paid £1 604 000 Linklaters paid £1 599 000 Dickson Minto paid £1.5 million Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer paid £1 475 000 Berwin Leighton Paisner and Watson Farley & Williams paid £1.4 million Clifford Chance paid £1 240 000
