US legal industry grows by just 100 jobs in 12 months

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics says the legal industry added just 100 jobs in August 2011. The Bureau’s reporting on the industry shows fluctuations in hiring over the past 12 months, with a low in June of 3,800 jobs lost to a high in July of 4,100 new jobs. But looking back to August 2010, the figures show a net growth of 100 jobs in the last 12 months. And there could be bad news in the pipeline, according to this article from AM Law Daily. We may see more layoffs soon if the economy hits a double-dip recession.
