Top Japanese firm set to launch in Singapore

Japanese firm Mori Hamada & Matsumoto is set to open a Singapore office in early 2012 pending regulatory approval. The firm - one of Japan's Big Four corporate law firms – has applied for a foreign law practice license, and intends to provide foreign law services for the entire South-east and South Asia region. The new office is aimed to appeal to Japanese companies that prefer to deal with Japanese lawyers, and will farm out work involving Singapore law to local law firms.
