A&O asks 12 partners to leave the firm
Allen & Overy has once again taken the shears to its partnership ranks, asking around 12 of its partners to leave the firm. And while the move is not on the same scale as the 2009 restructuring programme that saw 47 partners asked to leave, it is still bad news for those affected. And A&O is not the only firm to make such a move: Herbert Smith is also set to expel around a dozen corporate partners, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is believed to be doing the same to a couple of real estate partners, and the word is that the same will happen at other London firms.
